On October 2, 2008, the advanced composite material created for BlastBloc, a newly developed blast-§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§mitigating and bullet-stopping barrier system was confirmed to perform at the highest (UL94-V0) rating for flame retardancy by ARDL Labs, Akron OH. The UL “V-0” rating is the highest rating (most flame retardant) in its category and verifies the material is not only “self-extinguishing” but will not produce “flaming particles” which may drip from the source.
UL (Underwriters Laboratory, Northbrook, IL) classifications are used to distinguish a material’s burning characteristics after test specimens have been exposed to a specified test flame under controlled laboratory conditions. The UL 94 is a vertical burn test in which five vertically mounted samples are exposed to two successive, ten-second high temperature ignitions. Flame resistance is then classified according to the time for the flame to “self-extinguish” and the duration of the afterglow.
The BlastBloc protective barrier system provides maximum asset protection with high mobility, reusability, flexibility and ease of installation with a small ‘footprint’.
