BlastBloc recently earned the U.S. Department of State K-12 Certification, the agency’s highest rating for anti-ram vehicle barriers.
The K-12 test involves crashing a 15,000 lb flatbed truck traveling at 50 mph into a barrier to measure its ability to stop the vehicle. Successfully passing the rigorous test is a precondition for any barrier to be certified for use as anti-vehicle protection for applications such as military check points and protecting U.S. embassies and installations abroad.
While it took less than 3 hours for the 4 man crew to construct the wall, the barrier proved to be nearly impervious to the impact. The BlastBloc® wall stopped the cab of the truck upon impact and allowed absolutely no penetration of the truck bed, far exceeding the minimum standard for certification.
After review of the test data, the U.S. Department of State subsequently certified BlastBloc® as an approved anti–ram vehicle barrier system for worldwide use.
The K-12 test was conducted by Transportation Research Center Inc. of East Liberty, Ohio, one of only a handful of testing facilities in the country certified by the Department of State. TRC provides comprehensive research, development and testing services to manufacturers, industry organizations and government agencies worldwide.
